What is Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL)?
Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) describes the loss of water from the skin's surface to the surrounding environment. It is an important factor in maintaining healthy skin, as excessive TEWL can lead to dryness, itching and sensitivity.

TEWL occurs when there is a disruption in the skin's natural barrier, allowing moisture to escape. This disruption can be caused by things like the environment (dry air, low humidity and cold temperatures are all causes of TEWL), ageing, harsh skincare andmedical conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Excessive TEWL can leave your skin dry, flaky, itchy and uncomfortable. It can also affect your skin barrier, leaving your skin dull and prone to infection. It can also leave it feeling tight and sensitive.

Moisturising and protecting your skin with nourishing skincare ingredients like ceramides and fatty acids while avoiding harsh, stripping products. Avoiding hot showers and cold, dry weather can also help to keep TEWL at bay.

COLLOIDAL OATMEAL
This ingredient enters the intracellular lipid matrix to promote regeneration and fortification of the Barrier Function and forms a fine barrier on the skin’s surface preventing trans epidermal water loss.

ORGANIC C02 EXTRACTED ROSE HIP
Abundant in EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) Omega 6 & Omega 3. Vitamins E, C, and Beta Carotene, it’s an excellent source of trans retinoic acid. This is also known as provitamin A, a natural, gentle form of Vitamin A.

BETULA ALBA (BIRCH) BARK
Birch bark is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant for skin clarity, strength and protection.

VANILLA PLANTIFOLIA EXTRACT
Vanilla has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to soothe and calm irritated skin. Vanillin is a polyphenol with powerful antioxidant properties. Vanilla also contains B vitamins, including niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, and pantothenic acid. All of which help to maintain healthy looking skin.
